Dominican Republic power holding company CDEEE and its distributors is about to begin the over US$300M second phase of the country's grid modernization and loss reduction project. Combined with the first phase of the project, the CDEEE will install over 500,000 smart meters to replace conventional electric meters.
ONCE they get approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Visayan Electric Company, Inc. (Veco) is set to roll out its prepaid electricity system in its franchise area.
“Veco has already filed a petition for implementation. We are waiting for the ERC’s green light to go ahead for the commercial deployment of the prepaid electric metering. We have long been ready for the installment of this project,” said Anton Mari Perdices, Veco senior vice president and chief operating officer, in an interview Friday.
